Celebrating 50 Years The “Original” Las Casuelas Restaurant
On entering Las Casuelas – “Bien venido, amigos!” is the kind of warm welcome you’ll receive…. and the photos on the wall are a gateway Into the Delgado family’s proud Mexican heritage and recipes perfected over the many generations founded by Maria and Florencio “Del” Delgado.
The Orginal Las Casuelas now owned by Florence Delgado, and managed by her daughter Alana Coffin, is a comfortable place with a stunning view of the San Gorgonio mountains and the lively street scene along north Palm Canyon. Florence remembers how she grew up in the restaurant business…waiting tables, bussing dishes and operating the cash register and now Alana has taken over, it’s in the Delgado genes. In early days, The Original Las Casuelas became a haunt for the Hollywood crowd from Elizabeth Taylor, Bob Hope, Dinah Shore and even President Dwight Eisenhower became a regular customer. The restaurant is now considered a Palm Springs Landmark.
“The Especiales de la Casa” will keep you
coming back for sizzling beef, chicken and shrimp fajitas or Maria’s Especial Spinach Enchilada enriched by suiza sauce. Of course they offer tacos, burritos, chile rellenos, chimichangas and all the classic Mexican comfort food you love, they also serve lighter vegetarian selections. Everyday is a celebration of food, family and new friends!

Sherman's Deli & Bakery
Two locations:
PALM SPRINGS; (760) 325-1199
401 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way
PALM DESERT: (760) 568-1350
73-161 Country Club Dr. |
Sherman's Deli and Bakery, prepare for the supreme
treat for breakfast, lunch and dinner...known as a "meeting
place" for
locals and visitors and celebrity
regulars.
For over a half century, Sherman's Deli & Bakery,
a Kosher-style family restaurant much like a New York style
deli, is owned and operated by Sherman Harris's son, Sam,
and daughter, Janet. When Sherman came to the desert in 1953,
to visit a friend at Lawry's Steak Ranch, he liked it so
much, he ended up managing the ranch, he knew he had nally
found his "nitch" and opened Sherman's Deli & Bakery
in it's present location. Sam and Janet remember how they
grew-up in the restaurant business, waiting and bussing tables.
They remember how their father made an impact on everyone,
he loved his
customers and the community, and he
consistently said "when someone comes
in the door – you treat them like they are
a guest in your home". Everyone who
ever met Sherman, remembers him.
The food is fantastic, with overstu ed
hot pastrami sandwiches or Reubens,
brisket of beef, corned beef hash, herb
roasted chicken, latkes, potato pancakes,
lox and cream cheese, New York steak,
baby back ribs...to name a few of the
favorites. Leave room for the luscious
desserts from the bakery, all items are
"home-baked" with fresh bread daily,
baked right on the premises. Try the
carrot cake, cheesecakes, coconut dreams,
anything chocolate (you won't be sorry).
California wines are available as well as
domestic and imported beers.
The second location of Sherman's Deli
& Bakery is in Palm Desert and has the
same identical menu and quality...so no
matter where you are in the desert, you
can enjoy a meal at Sherman's. |

contemporary dishes to our desert residents and visitors
every day."

location founded by the late Maria and Florencio "Del" Delgado
in 1958.
The Original Las Casuelas now owned by Florence Delgado, remembers
how she grew up in the restaurant business... waiting tables,

to her daughter Alana, who now manages the restaurant.
In the early days The Original Las Casuelas became a haunt
for the Hollywood crowd from Elizabeth Taylor, George Montgomery,
Bob Hope, Dinah Shore and even President
Dwight Eisenhower became a regular customer (he was a Coachella
Valley resident after leaving office) and would sit in the
same booth, that is still there.
From the original family recipes, unique specialty dishes and
lighter vegetarian selections are prepared with only the freshest
ingredience.
